WEDDINGS
Enclosed in 26 acres of parkland yet just a few minutes walking distance to Wells, Stoberry offers outstanding views over the City of Wells and the Vale of Avalon. Our 6½ acre garden, with ample parking facilities, has been sympathetically designed to blend the plants and sculptures with the beautiful views. The marquee for wedding receptions is placed in a uniquely magnificent location overlooking the Vale of Avalon and the four churches, St Thomas’s, St Cuthbert’s, the largest parish church in England, with Wells Cathedral as a centrepiece and Glastonbury Tor in the background. The 1½ acre walled garden springs alive at night as dusk falls and the magic of lighting transforms the garden to create another beautiful and useful space for entertaining.
In order to keep Stoberry a unique and special experience, only a few wedding receptions or special functions will be hosted each year which will make your day celebrated at our beautiful venue special. We allow organisers to arrange their own unique occasion, or we are happy to discuss arrangements with you, and furnish you with contacts to assist you to arrange the flexible solution that fits within your budget.
You will not find another location with such spectacular views of the four churches and the smallest City in England forming the backdrop for you, making this a unique location for a personalised wedding or civil partnership celebration, where you can tailor your budget to suit your special event. Set within parkland nestles Stoberry House and its beautiful gardens with breathtaking views over the City of Wells, its cathedral and the Vale of Avalon. On entering the property, see the garden lake to the right, wildlife pond to the left and proceed on into the walled garden area.
This family garden planted sympathetically within its landscape provides a stunning combination of vistas accented with wildlife ponds, water features, sculpture, walled garden, sunken garden, gazebo, potager, and lime walk. Borders planted to give colour and interest in every season, spring bulbs, irises, roses, acer glade, salvias, and several seated areas to relax and enjoy the views and garden.
Comfortably furnished reception rooms lead to tastefully and individually decorated bedrooms all en suite, and with beautiful views of the gardens and surrounding countryside.
Featured on BBC 'Inside Out', in Somerset Life and nationally in 'Garden Answers'; also open some years for the National Garden Scheme.
The joy of Stoberry is that you make your choice and can tailor your special day within your budget to make it a uniquely personal experience.
