Visit Bath from Stoberry House
Within an easy car ride from Stoberry House lies the City of Bath. Some of our guests visit Bath and Bristol in the same day but I recommend Bath for a full day’s outing and then Bristol on another day. A comfortable way of seeing most of the major attractions of Bath is to take the ‘hop on- hop off’ bus which has 38 stops – the Bath City Sightseeing Bus. The city of Bath was in 1987 inscribed as a World Heritage Site; there are a number of things to do as well as sightseeing, for example the Theatre, Art Galleries and 17 museums all situated with in a square mile. Shopping in Bath allows you to enjoy the Georgian streets, the honey coloured Bath stone and little alley ways. Do take time to visit the famous Roman Baths which are now beautifully restored and the Thermae Spa is the only natural thermal spa in Britain.
Bath Abbey
Having seen Wells cathedral now you can admire the magnificent architecture of these two religious special places: just take a quiet moment of contemplation. ,The Bishop of Bath and Wells has had his palace in Wells and although I enjoy Bath Abbey our Cathedral at Wells is magnificent. I am often asked what the differance between an abbey and a cathedral. Remember we have two abbeys near us, at Glastonbury and Bath. The short answer is that an abbey is an ensemble of minor buildings whereas a Cathedral is a fairly large building defined as a single ornamented church with impressive edifices .
